Heat recovery ventilation
Sealed, well-insulated buildings need fresh air, but opening windows wastes heating and cooling. A heat recovery ventilation (HRV) unit runs incoming and outgoing air past each other through a heat exchanger, so fresh air arrives close to room temperature.

What is heat recovery ventilation?
A heat recovery ventilation system brings in fresh air and passes it through a heat exchanger with the stale air going out, so you get fresh air without losing most of the heat or cooling you've paid for.
