Old air conditioners and refrigeration equipment contain refrigerant that must be recovered before removal. We plan the job, recover the refrigerant and remove the equipment.

Overview

Equipment assessment and access planning

We look at what needs to come out, where it is, and how it will be reached and removed. Rooftop plant may need lifting equipment; units in roof spaces or tight plant rooms may need dismantling first.

Refrigerant recovery and disposal

Refrigerant must not be released into the air. Before equipment is disconnected, our licensed technicians recover the refrigerant into recovery cylinders, which are then returned for appropriate handling. Your quote says how the equipment itself will be disposed of.

Isolation, dismantling and removal scope

Once the refrigerant is recovered, the equipment is disconnected and removed. The quote sets out exactly what's included: electrical disconnection, removal of pipework and brackets, transport, and disposal.

Site handover

After the work we leave the area tidy and tell you what was removed and what was left, such as capped pipework or brackets. Any records available for the job can be provided on request.

Home and business examples

At home, decommissioning is often part of replacing an old split or ducted system. For businesses, it might mean removing old rooftop plant during a refit, or clearing refrigeration from a closing kitchen or shop. If you're replacing the equipment, see air conditioning installation or commercial AC installation.
