Heat pump guide

Heat pumps explained

How reverse-cycle heat pumps heat and cool a home, how they compare with gas heating, and where to get one installed, repaired or serviced.

Heat pump services

Warm in winter, cool in summer

A heat pump moves heat instead of burning fuel to make it, so it delivers several units of heat for every unit of electricity it uses. That makes it one of the most efficient ways to heat a Victorian home or business.

We install reverse-cycle split, multi-split and ducted heat pumps, and heat pump hot water systems, and we can plan a staged move away from gas.

Why heat pumps

The benefits of going electric

Why more Victorians are switching from gas to heat pumps.

Lower running costs

Modern inverter heat pumps are highly efficient, especially paired with rooftop solar.

Heating and cooling

One system for year-round comfort, instead of a heater plus a separate air conditioner.

Lower emissions

No gas burned at home, and cleaner over time as the grid adds more renewables.

Safer indoor air

No combustion inside the home, so no carbon monoxide risk from the heater.

Heat pump hot water

Replace an old gas or electric storage unit with an efficient heat pump water heater.

Possible incentives

You may be eligible for government incentives. Ask us about the current schemes.

FAQ

Common questions

More answers on our FAQ page.

Is a heat pump the same as reverse-cycle air conditioning?

Yes. A reverse-cycle air conditioner is an air-to-air heat pump. It heats in winter and cools in summer using the same unit.

Can a heat pump replace my gas heating?

In most Victorian homes, yes. Modern heat pumps heat well in cold weather and usually cost less to run than gas. We can assess your home and suggest the right mix of split, multi-split or ducted units.

Are there rebates for heat pumps in Victoria?

Some homes and businesses may be eligible for government incentives on heat pump heating and hot water. Eligibility changes, so ask us when you request a quote and we'll point you to the current schemes.
