Home Duct & Vent Installation, Repairs and Replacement in Melbourne

Torn, crushed or disconnected ducts waste the air your system makes. We find the damage, explain whether to repair or replace, and restore airflow to every room.

Overview

Duct & vent repairs and replacement for your home

Airmax repairs, replaces and installs ductwork and vents for ducted air conditioning and heating in Melbourne homes. We inspect the ducts, connections, insulation and outlets, find where air is being lost, and explain whether repair or replacement is the better option.

We work across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Every job starts with a written quote.

Uneven temperatures, leaks and damaged ductwork

Ducts in a roof space can be torn by pests, crushed by people moving around, or come loose at the joints. When that happens, air spills into the roof instead of reaching the room. The signs are rooms that never get warm or cool, weak airflow at some outlets, and a system that seems to run constantly.

  • One or more rooms always too hot or cold
  • Weak or no airflow from some outlets
  • Dust or noise from vents
  • Higher running costs with no change in use

Inspecting ducts, connections, insulation and vents

We go into the roof space and follow each duct from the unit to the outlet, checking for tears, kinks, crushed sections, loose joints and missing insulation. We also check the outlets and the return-air grille and filter.

Repair or replace

A single torn or disconnected duct can usually be repaired or re-joined. Older ductwork that is brittle, poorly insulated or damaged in several places is often better replaced, either in sections or as a full run. We'll explain the options and quote them.

Access, layout and airflow considerations

Roof access, ceiling height and how the ducts are laid out affect how the work is done. Long or tightly bent ducts restrict airflow, so when we replace them we look for a better route where possible. Adding an outlet to a room that's always cold is sometimes part of the fix.

Installation, checking and related ducted services

After the work we run the system and check airflow at each outlet. If the ducted unit itself needs replacing, see ducted air conditioning installation.

FAQ

Common questions

More answers on our FAQ page.

Can damaged ducts be repaired?

Often. Tears, loose joints and short damaged sections can usually be repaired. If the ductwork is old and failing in several places, replacement may be better value.

How can duct problems affect room temperatures?

If a duct is torn, crushed or disconnected, the air meant for that room escapes into the roof space. The room gets little or no air, and the system runs longer trying to reach the set temperature.
